PHNOM PENH - (24.07.2014) - Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen and opposition leader Sam Rainsy on Thursday together paid a courtesy call on King Norodom Sihamoni and informed him about the end of a year-long post-election dispute, officials said.
"The two leaders met the king at the Royal Palace in order to inform him about the political agreement that the leaders of the two parties reached on Tuesday," Cheam Yeap, a member of the Central Committee of the ruling Cambodian People's Party (CPP), said.
Ho Vann, a lawmaker-elect of the opposition Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP), confirmed the meeting.
On Tuesday, Hun Sen and Sam Rainsy struck a deal to end the CNRP's ten-month long boycott of the parliament in exchange for an overhaul of the National Election Committee, power sharing in the parliament and a TV license.
The CNRP's 55 lawmakers-elect will soon be sworn in at the parliament, where they will join the CPP's 68 lawmakers to amend the Constitution in order to enshrine the autonomy of a new National Election Committee.
Ho Vann said Sam Rainsy, who was barred from running in last July's national election, will be sworn in as one of the CNRP's 55 lawmakers.
"He (Sam Rainsy) will become a lawmaker for Kampong Cham province to replace lawmaker-elect Kuoy Bunroeun, who resigns and prepares to hold a position at the new National Election Committee, " he said.
The National Election Committee did not allow Sam Rainsy to stand as a parliamentary candidate for the national election in July last year, citing his absence from the country's voter list due to a criminal conviction.
Sam Rainsy, who had spent nearly four years in self-imposed exile to avoid an 11-year jail term on charges of disinformation and destruction of public property, received a pardon from King Norodom Sihamoni and returned to Cambodia just two weeks before the national election on July 28, 2013.
In October last year, he was allowed to re-register as a voter so that he is eligible to replace another lawmaker on the CNRP's list. (Cihan/Xinhua)

The end Hun sen bring opposition leader to meet with the vietnam king for political deadlock ,I am laughing about this situation,we already knew this king,He never support or protect his own population every times devil beating and killing his own people I' d never heard a or seen this said any word or shown up his face to stop devil beating or killing the people,but he also support Hun Sen to open parliament for the right constitution even Hun Sen is breaking down the cambodian constitution,if we still have this stupid king and his blood related to viet our country never get a peace and freedom.
