The opposition CNRP has agreed to take its 55 seats in the National Assembly in exchange for an overhaul of the electoral commission that it accuses of rigging last year’s national election in favor of the ruling CPP, according a joint statement issued by the parties after talks on Tuesday.
Prime Minister Hun Sen and opposition leader Sam Rainsy finalized the deal during negotiations that lasted from 9 a.m. to about 2 p.m.

“The two parties agree on a political resolution by working together in the National Assembly institution in order to reach solutions for various national issues in accordance with democracy and the state of law,” the statement says.
CNRP chief whip Son Chhay confirmed that the agreement meant that the opposition party would take its seats in parliament, which it has been boycotting since September. CNRP spokesman Yim Sovann said that the party would take its seats “soon,” but would not elaborate.
The statement issued by the parties after the meeting says that the new National Election Committee will have nine members: four selected by the CPP, four by the CNRP and a ninth member elected by members of the National Assembly. The statement does not say how the ninth member will be elected.
The agreement says that the National Assembly will still presided over by the ruling CPP, and that the ruling party will maintain 7 seats on the assembly’s 13-member permanent committee.
Seven CNRP lawmakers-elect and a party activist remained in prison when the deal was struck, facing charges of leading an insurrection and incitement to commit a felony over their alleged role in a violent protest near Phnom Penh’s Freedom Park on June 15.
Sam Sokong, a lawyer on the CNRP’s defense team, said from Prey Sar prison that the opposition officials will be released Tuesday afternoon.
“It is confirmed that the court will release them today,” Mr. Sokong said at about 3 p.m.
“Now the court is in the process of registering the number of the release warrant,” he said. “So the warrant will arrive at Prey Sar prison in about a half hour.”

It is for now. Yes, Mr. Sam Rainsy and Mr. Kem Sokha have done the right things for now. We know deeply about the tricks and political games of CPPs under the influences of Yuon/Vietcong back. So, need to keep an eye on the hidden Yuon/Vietcong inside CPP and destroy them right away with no time.
We, Khmer supporters of CNRP and other Khmer people outside political parties, are getting smarter than that.
We still demand the Yuon/Vietnamese leaders and folks to apologize because they (Yuon/Viet) have falsified and distorted our Khmer history. There is no way for Vietcong/Yuon can do whatever they want.
So, We, Khmer supporters of CNRP and other Khmer people outside political parties need to keep an eye on Hun Sen and his Vietnamese/Yuon agents (you know who they are) working in CPP to spy. We, Khmer, have to destroy the Yuon/Vietnamese spies as soon as possible without wasting our time.

I believe for now that Mr. Kem Sokha and Mr. Sam Rainsy will do the right things, learn and be aware of the political games and wars between CNRP and CPP while agreement has been settled down.
Mr. Sokha and Mr. Rainsy will not be blinded about the political games with Hun Sen and his Yuon/Vietnamese agents inside CPP.
Again and again, keep an eye on Yuon/Vietnamese agents (YOU KNOW WHO THEY INSIDE THE CPP) who work and operate inside CPP and around Hun Sen.

Those of you who are criticized this historic agreements is either dumb, unrealistic, uninformative. May be you are simply Youn, Siam, Laotian who would like to see Khmers still killing Khmers and Cambodia is still torn apart. Sorry, to disappoint you we Khmers had many disagreements but one thing we agree upon is that NO MORE KHMER BLOOD SPILL LIKE IN THE PAST.
CNRP hands are limited to gain more because CPP/Youn controlled armed forces and got backing from most ASEAN, China, Vietnam, Siam, Japan and even some self-served countries in Europe. So the only ways CNRP can outright topple CPP is by violence protests and this most Cambodian DO NOT WANT. Let start making real laws togethers and protect our borders. Let strengthen CNRP grass roots further and win the next election officially. Let national reconciliations begin. From now on start reformed our armed forces into a professional, neutral security forces. Let start reform our judicial system. Let reform our immigration laws. Let reform our education systems. Let reform our health care etc., etc., etc. You can see we had a lots of works to make our country better other than kept on fighting each others. Our thief neighbors are laughing with joys while we fight each others. Good jobs CNRP & CPP. Now CNRP must always kept one eye open at all time.

Dear All,
Please analyze the implications of not joining the parliament first before you attack the CNRP. We want to change or kick out the CPP and Hun Sen, but the fact is you can't at the moment because they control the army, the police, the court and did you see how many they killed already? We don't want to shed Khmer blood, even one drop, just for the sake of kicking Hun Sen out.
Also, if we don't join Hun sen will rule Cambodia as normal until the next election in 2018. By then, if the CNRP didn't join the parliament, maybe the CNRP has already been broken up and became weak significantly, while Hun Sen and the CPP will become stronger. If so how can the CNRP win the 2018 election? In this case, it's better to join because the agreement is not bad and the CNRP can build up strengths from within and hopefully win the 2018 election. Please give them a chance, they worked hard enough!

Hun Sen just arrested a few of your members of parliament then you surrendered to Hun Sen already, you are coward and desperate. You made a deal with CPP about Cambodian Election Commission is a flaw, it does not work and it will never work, 4 CPP and 4 CNRP and 1 independent so if Hun Sen does not agree with the independent propose by CNRP and vice versa then the old Cambodian Election Commission will go on that mean the old Election Commission since 2013 election stay on the job so everything is still the same as usual the cheating so on and so on. The so call independent I do not buy it because Hun Sen can buy these people with his huge money.
In Parliament if CNRP agree on 50+1 formula then every law will be passed by CPP without obstruction so CNRP is became the rubber stamp again. The destruction of forest, land crabbing, illegal immigration, corruption and so on will continue as usual, 4 more years for Hun Sen that mean Hun Sen will regroup and plan a new strategy to destroy CNRP, He will become arrogant and curse on Cambodian again and more importantly Cambodian’s CNRP will face the discrimination against them from CPP local ruling party that is the worst unimagined thing that will happen to unfortunate Khmer’s CNRP.
