Sam Rainsy appeals for end of revenge culture

Give our kids a better deal
PHNOM PENH (The Cambodia Herald) -- The opposition Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP) president Sam Rainsy appealed Sunday to activists and supporters to end what is called the culture of revenge.

“We should stop what is called 'at high tide the fish eat ants; at low tide the ants eat fish',” Sam Rainsy said.

Speaking at the 1st National Council Assembly to sum up two-year work and set future plans, he urged his supporters and activists to stop such culture, but to unite to rebuid the nation.

Sam Rainsy made such comments after the political agreement reached early this week by CNRP and CPP.

The CNRP agreed to take its seats in the National Assembly after the CPP agreed to its election reforms, power sharing in the parliament and others agreement following a five-hour face-to-face meeting between the two parties' top leaders.

Sam Rainsy was recognized this week as a lawmaker for Kampong Cham province by replacing Kuoy Bunroeun who will be a member of National Election Committee.

The National Assembly will hold a plenary session on Monday to confirm the validity of Sam Rainsy as a legislator. The session will also discuss the sharing of the ten commissions of the National Assembly as agreed by the two parties.
